Dear Niek,
I’m writing to you, because I need your opinion about two paintings.
The two paintings can be defined as a “happy mood” and a ‘sad mood”
We had 3 lessons for painting it and 1 lesson for sketching.
Both painting were supposed to be in “Van Gogh style”.
I only had 2 lessons for painting because I was ill for one lesson.
For paining the “happy mood”, I used colours which I think are warm and relaxing.
Those were mainly bright colours like light green, light blue and yellow.
You can clearly see that I used “the van Gogh style”.
However, I hadn’t enough time to paint the face and hear in van “Gogh style”.
In addition, I left two much white spaces in the background.
I painted the background with a paintbrush which even didn’t contain more than 3 droplets.
Unluckily, my mouth is a bit erased because another painting laid on it for more than 1 week.
The skin colour was failed ( It was to brown) and that is why my mark couldn’t be higher as a 6, according to my art teacher Mrs. Cleine.
For my “sad mood” painting, I used much darker colours like green and brown, when speaking about the background.
But as you can see on my painting, Another painting was above it and that is why I Got some red and pink colours in my background.
I my “sad mood” painting I look a bit thicker, but I want to show that I wore more thicker clothes.
Afterwards when I looked at both paintings, I made a mistake; I switched the eyebrows.
In my “happy mood” painting I used black eye brows and in my “sad mood” painting I used beige.
My opinion about both painting is that you can see well which painting shows which mood.
And I think, when the mouth would have succeed, I would have got a higher mark.
But in general, I can agree with a 6.
Looking forward to hearing to you.
Yours Sven.
